Welcome
to
Walking
with
Our
Master.
I'm
your
host,
Dave
Leighton.
Whether
you're
starting
your
morning
or
winding
down
your
evening,
let's
take
a
few
moments
to
center
our
hearts
on
some
thoughts
about
what
really
matters.
This
week
we're
looking
at
some
insights
about
evangelism.
Evangelism
is
one
of
the
basic
or
core
responsibilities
of
disciples.
We
are
to
make
disciples.
Think
about
it.
Of
all
that
Jesus
could
have
told
us
to
do
as
he
was
leaving
earth,
it
was
evangelism
he
focused
his
final
thoughts
on.
That
sounds
like
it's
pretty
important.
Well
let's
begin
by
looking
at
what
evangelism
is.
Not
as
a
program,
not
as
pressure,
but
as
just
a
natural
part
of
walking
with
our
master.
Now
we
hear
the
word
evangelism,
and
many
of
us
picture
standing
on
a
street
corner
or
speaking
to
crowds
or
having
all
the
right
answers
ready
at
the
perfect
moment.
But
at
its
heart,
evangelism
is
much
simpler
and
much
more
personal.
It's
simply
sharing
the
good
news
of
Jesus
with
someone.
And
remember,
we're
commanded
to
do
so.
In
Matthew
28,
we're
commanded
to
go,
make
disciples,
baptize
them,
and
teach
them.
And
Mark
16
says
basically
the
same
thing.
That
command
wasn't
just
for
a
few,
it
was
for
all
who
follow
him.
We
don't
need
a
title
to
teach.
We
simply
tell
the
story
of
Jesus.
And
just
to
plan
a
thought
before
we
move
on,
Jesus
didn't
say
how,
he
said
do.
And
we
already
have
the
knowledge
you
need
to
begin.
If
Jesus
has
changed
your
life,
even
in
small
ways,
you
already
have
something
worth
sharing.
Well
let's
look
now
at
why
evangelism
matters.
Just
as
it
was
important
as
the
church
began,
it
remains
important
today.
Evangelism
matters
because
people
matter.
Every
person
you
pass,
every
neighbor,
coworker,
or
stranger
is
someone
made
in
the
image
of
God,
and
many
are
walking
through
life
without
hope.
One
of
my
favorite
expressions
is
untold
millions
are
dying
untold.
Well
the
message
of
Jesus
isn't
just
information,
it's
transformation.
It's
forgiveness
for
the
broken,
which
by
the
way,
is
all
of
us.
It
gives
purpose
for
the
wandering
and
hope
for
the
weary.
Paul
reminds
us
in
Romans
chapter
ten
verse
fourteen,
how
are
they
to
believe
in
him
of
whom
they
have
never
heard?
Someone
shared
the
message
with
you.
Now
we
carry
that
same
message
forward,
not
out
of
obligation,
but
out
of
love
for
our
Lord
and
love
for
others.
Let's
be
honest.
Evangelism
can
feel
uncomfortable,
but
like
many
things,
we
grow
beyond
feeling
uncomfortable
the
more
we
practice
it.
We
might
think,
well,
what
if
I
say
something
wrong?
Or
what
if
they
reject
me?
Or
what
if
I
just
don't
know
enough?
Well,
here's
the
truth.
We're
not
called
to
have
all
the
answers.
We're
called
to
be
faithful.
God
does
not
expect
perfection.
He
expects
and
demands
faithfulness,
and
he
uses
willingness.
Remember,
the
early
disciples,
including
and
perhaps
the
apostles,
were
just
ordinary
people.
The
only
extraordinary
speaker
mentioned
was
Apollos,
and
he
had
to
be
retaught.
But
the
commonality
of
all
faithful
disciples
is
how
God
uses
us
to
change
the
world
one
life
at
a
time.
I
hope
you
see
the
importance
of
what
each
of
us
call
to
do.
Now,
let's
bring
this
down
to
everyday
life.
Here
are
some
simple
but
very
real
ways
we
can
live
out
evangelism.
Like
everything
in
our
walk
with
the
Master,
we
must
live
it
before
we
speak
it.
Our
life
is
our
first
message
kindness,
integrity,
patience,
forgiveness.
People
notice
when
something
is
different.
Then
we
should
pray
for
specific
people
we
know
and
the
need
to
hear
the
gospel.
And
by
the
way,
we
should
pray
for
those
that
we
may
not
have
an
opportunity
to
influence,
but
we
still
know
they
need
the
Lord.
This
includes
our
national
leaders,
those
who
we
hear
in
the
news,
and
those
that
are
part
of
our
community,
and
many,
many
more
others.
We
should
ask
God
to
help
us
say
and
do
the
right
thing
to
influence
them.
We
should
also
pray
for
opportunities,
wisdom,
and
courage
in
our
efforts
and
the
efforts
of
others.
Someone
will
have
the
opportunity
to
reach
others.
That's
how
the
Holy
Spirit
works.
He
brings
the
seeker
and
the
teacher
together,
so
let's
be
ready.
As
we
start
to
reach
others,
we
can
start
with
a
simple
conversation.
We
don't
need
a
script.
We
can
start
with
a
simple
question.
How
can
I
pray
for
you?
Or
how
are
you
really
doing?
Showing
you
care
opens
doors
of
opportunity
to
share.
And
the
simplest
and
yet
very
important
way
to
evangelize
is
to
share
our
story.
All
of
us
have
a
story
of
how
we
have
been
influenced
by
our
Lord.
Keep
it
short
and
direct.
We
share
who
we
are,
what
Jesus
has
done,
and
what
He
means
for
us
now.
Our
story
is
powerful
because
it's
real.
And
as
we
speak
with
others,
we
invite.
We
don't
pressure,
we
invite.
We
invite
them
to
worship,
Bible
study,
or
a
personal
Bible
class,
maybe
this
podcast
or
other
outlets
where
someone
can
help
share
the
message.
We're
planting
seeds
and
allowing
God
to
bring
the
growth.
One
last
thing
to
remember,
and
one
of
the
most
effective
ways
to
evangelize
is
in
serving
others.
This
can
be
the
loudest
message,
or
it
can
be
quiet
service.
We
look
for
opportunities
to
serve,
share,
and
listen.
When
we
do,
they
see
we
care
and
we'll
be
receptive.
We're
showing
love
that
speaks
louder
than
any
words
we
say.
Always
look
to
the
example
of
Jesus.
He
didn't
just
preach
to
crowds,
he
walked
with
people,
sat
with
them,
ate
with
them,
spoke
with
them,
and
listened
to
them.
Evangelism
isn't
a
moment,
it's
a
lifestyle.
As
we
walk
with
our
master,
we
begin
to
see
people
the
way
he
sees
them,
not
as
interruptions,
but
as
opportunities,
not
as
projects,
but
as
souls.
We
don't
have
to
go
far
to
share
our
faith.
We
start
with
where
we
are.
We
ask
ourselves,
who
has
God
placed
in
my
path
today?
By
the
way,
that
ought
to
be
our
prayer
every
day.
Lord,
help
me
see
the
person
you
put
in
my
path.
And
then
we
take
one
small
step
because
sometimes
our
small
step
opens
the
door
to
someone
else's
eternity.
It
happened
to
me
and
it
will
happen
to
you.
Someone
cared
enough
for
my
soul
that
he
shared
the
simple
message
of
the
love
of
Jesus.
