The title for this podcast is Walking With Our Master.  I take this opportunity to discuss with Brent Missildine, minister for the Prattville Church of Christ, what it means to walk with the Master.

In our conversation we look at various scriptures that use the expression walking with our Lord.  We discuss what that expression means, who is our Master, how we walk with Him, and how we can return to walking with Him when we stray.

You might know someone struggling to walk with our Master.  Perhaps you are challenged.  The wonderful news is that our Lord invites all to walk with Him, even those that have rejected Him and want to regain their walk.

I invite you to follow our podcast and share it with others as together we walk with our Master.

Please contact me if you have questions or you wish to share with me something about your walk with the Master. My email is walkingwithourmaster@gmail.com

What does it mean to walk with our master?

First, we must recognize him as our Master. This means a surrender of our will to his will.

When his disciples first responded to his call, “Follow Me,” it meant that they literally had to stop walking in the direction they had planned and go where he was going.  Luke 5, “They left all and followed Him.”

John 12:26

If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also.

1John 2:6

He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.

Sweetly, Lord, have we heard Thee calling,
 "Come, follow Me!"
And we see where Thy footprints falling,
 lead us to Thee.

Refrain:
 Footprints of Jesus that make the pathway glow;
we will follow the steps of Jesus where’er they go.

2 Though they lead o’er the cold dark mountains,
 seeking His sheep,
 or along by Siloam’s fountains,
 helping the weak. [Refrain]

3 If they lead through the temple holy,
 preaching the Word,
or in homes of the poor and lowly,
 serving the Lord. [Refrain]

4 Then at last, when on high He sees us,
 our journey done,
we will rest where the steps of Jesus
 end at His throne. [Refrain]

 John 6:66

From that time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more.

John 8:12

Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”

Romans 6:4

Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

Galatians 5:16-17

I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish.

Galatians 5:24

And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

Ephesians 5:1-15

Walk in love, walk in light, walk in wisdom.

Walking in His light means grace and security. 1 John 1:7-10

If we discover we’re “walking in the wrong direction”, how can we turn that around and start walking with the Master?

Simon the sorcerer.  Acts 8:22 Repent and pray.  Repent, means turn around.  Pray.  Walk in a different direction, to follow Jesus.

Remember that in God’s family, you aren’t walking alone!
